• Millburn Township, together with the Millburn Environmental Commission, the Millburn Green Team and the Cora Hartshorn Aboretum hosted the Millburn Green Challenge 2010, a community-wide environmental awareness event held at the Cora Hartshorn Aboretum in Short Hills on May 15, 2010.

The event was comprised of a series of "green challenges", with the goal to increase environmental awareness and motivate individuals, families and businesses to change their behavior in support of Millburn's goals for sustainability.  Over 700 visitors, who signed over 1,700 plegdes, attended the event.  Sustainable practices were implemented for event logistics.

• Idle Free Millburn – Initiated campaign to reduce vehicle idling informed the public through scientific presentations at many local organizations including the Wyoming Civic Association, Millburn Board of Education, and the Deerfield Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.  The MEC worked with New Jersey Environmental Federation to design a new Idle Free New Jersey Web site: http://www.cleanwateraction.org/state_focus/njef. The many benefits of reducing the incidence of car idling include health benefits - especially for our children, the saving of fuel and money, and the reduction of environmentally harmful greenhouse gasses and air pollution.

• Town wide PTO Environmental Committee – Parent representatives of all five elementary schools have joined together with the Millburn Environmental Commission to work on "greening" their schools through distribution of information (Green notes) and hands-on campaigns.
