MILLBURN TOWNSHIP GREEN TEAM 

Sustainable Jersey is a certification program for municipalities in New Jersey that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term. Launched in 2009, they are a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support and reward communities as they pursue sustainability programs. Millburn was awarded Bronze certification and must recertify to maintain Bronze or achieve Silver status. For more information, go to http://www.sustainablejersey.com/

Upcoming Events:

The Millburn Township Green Team is partnering with the Maplewood and South Orange Green Teams, combining the three communities' efforts to go green, save money and take steps to sustain the quality of all our lives over the long term. Please mark your calendars so you won't miss these four fun and educational events:

• 6th Annual Green Day Fair - Saturday, April 27th, 11 am - 4 pm in Maplewood Memorial Park.  The Millburn Township Green Team will be taking part in the Green Day fair. Please come, bring your family and friends, and enjoy the activities, displays, food, music and so much more! For more information, go to http://www.maplewoodisgreen.org/green-day

• Drip Irrigation - Saturday, May 4th, 10am, (rain date May 11^th, 10 am), South Orange Elks Lodge, 220 Prospect Street, South Orange. Drip irrigation is an effective and efficient means to keep your garden properly watered. Please join the Millburn Township, Maplewood, and South Orange Green Teams to install a drip irrigation system at the RENT PARTY GARDEN. (The Rent Party Garden is a large vegetable garden that grows crops for Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Joseph’s Food Pantries.) You will learn how to set up a drip irrigation system of your own as you assist with this installation.

•  River Day Festival - Sunday, May 5th, 11 am - 4 pm. Clean-up location, in Millburn, To Be Announced.  River clean-up after party at the Skate House on the duck pond off of Mead St. (N. Ridgewood Rd. and Meadowbrook Lane) in South Orange where there will be music, food, a wild edibles walk, a tour of the watershed, activities and more. More clean-up details COMING SOON.

•  Film Showing - DIRT! The Movie, Thursday, June 6th at 7:00 pm. The next film in the Millburn Township Green Team's film series at the Millburn Public Library.
