Vaccine Information for Seniors

Homebound Seniors Vaccine Program Information

In an effort to provide protection to our vulnerable residents, the Essex County Department of Health is looking to collect the names and contact information of homebound seniors in an effort to provide the COVID-19 vaccinations directly to these homebound residents. At this time, we do not have any definitive dates as to when the County will be able to provide the in-home vaccines.

Homebound is defined by Medicare as anyone who is immobile or homebound due to illness, needs the help of another person or medical equipment (such as crutches, a walker or a wheelchair) to leave home, or is unable to or would have difficulty leaving their home or being transported to a vaccination clinic. Homebound may also be defined as someone whose doctor believes their health or illness could become worse upon leaving the home.

If you fall under this category, are the caregiver of someone who is homebound, or have a neighbor or friend who will not have seen this community notification but would benefit from this vaccination service because they are homebound - please contact the Millburn Health, Welfare, and Human Services Department at (973) 535-7961 ext. 231 and provide the senior’s name, phone number and address. Though dates for in-home vaccinations are currently unavailable, we are working to provide information to the County on interested seniors quickly and effectively.

If you have any questions, please contact the Millburn Health, Welfare, and Human Services Department. You can also email Ana Millan at and use the subject header: “Homebound Resident.”
