Mayor's Message, 12/4

Good afternoon Millburn Township Residents, today is Friday, December 4, 2020

Essex County is reporting 37,100 residents having tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently 344 residents of Millburn Township who have tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmed cases in Millburn are cumulative and residents are not removed from this count once they recover.  This number represents an increase of 35 cases since last week’s message.   

Here is a breakdown of the Township’s cases by age range.  We will do our best to provide this information on a weekly basis, but cannot guarantee that it will always be available to us.  This breakdown represents positive COVID results from 11/18 through 12/4

  • Essex County is offering free Covid testing at a variety of locations throughout the County 6 days per week.   Please visit www.EssexCovid.org for additional information and to register.  You must register to get tested.  
  • Governor Murphy has placed revised restrictions on restaurants and bars through Executive Order 194.  There is now a 10 PM curfew for all Bars and Restaurants for indoor seating and NO bar seating indoors. All competitive indoor sports for all age groups are prohibited EXCEPT College and Professional teams.
  • Under Executive Order 196, indoor gatherings are limited to ten (10) people. Outdoor gatherings are limited to twenty-five (25) people. Please find additional information on Executive Order 196 here.
  • When walking or cycling on our streets, and in particular the early evening/evening hours, be sure to wear reflective gear and obey the rules of the road.    At dusk, it is VERY difficult to see people and leaf piles can add to potentially dangerous roadways. PLEASE wear light colored or reflective clothing and use a flashlight.  Drivers - PLEASE.  SLOW. DOWN.
  • The Holiday season is upon us—PLEASE exercise good judgment both indoors and outdoors—Be mindful of the Governor’s orders—Wear a Mask, Keep your distance--- These safety measures will protect you, your loved ones and all our residents  #MillburnStrong  THANK YOU.

Good afternoon Millburn Township Residents, today is Friday, December 11, 2020

 

Essex County is reporting 39,740 residents having tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently 362 residents of Millburn Township who have tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmed cases in Millburn are cumulative and residents are not removed from this count once they recover.  This number represents an increase of 18 cases since last week’s message.  

 

  • Essex County is offering free Covid testing at a variety of locations throughout the County 6 days per week.   Please visit www.EssexCovid.org for additional information and to register.  You must register to get tested.  

 

  • Governor Murphy has placed revised restrictions on restaurants and bars through Executive Order 194.  There is now a 10 PM curfew for all Bars and Restaurants for indoor seating and NO bar seating indoors. Good afternoon Millburn Township Residents, today is Friday, December 18, 2020.

Essex County is reporting 43,008 residents having tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently 385 residents of Millburn Township who have tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmed cases in Millburn are cumulative and residents are not removed from this count once they recover.  This number represents an increase of 23 cases since last week’s message.  

Please read the following important updates for our residents:

  • Essex County is offering free Covid testing at a variety of locations throughout the County.  Please visit www.essexcovid.org for additional information and to register.  You must register to get tested.  
  • Additionally, Essex county will be receiving both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine. We anticipate distribution and the vaccination program to begin on or about Dec 26th -First responders/hospitals workers and long term care facilities will be prioritized to receive the vaccine first—the location for MILLBURN residents is:

Livingston Mall – Sears Building
112 Eisenhower Parkway Livingston, NJ
 The entrance is at the back of the building.

We anticipate our residents will be at a later date and the information will be forth coming--- rigorous protocols—spacing—social distance will be strictly adhered to--There will be both on line as well as a dedicated landline for signup—as soon as we have additional info—will be shared on all our communication channels.

Anyone wishing to volunteer Both Medical and Administrative ---please send your name and contact information to vaccinehelp@admin.essexcountynj.org.  Anyone who would like to volunteer at any of the sites will assist with administrative roles.  Also, volunteers with a nursing/medical background are in need to assist with inoculation.  Volunteers who are working at any of the sites will revive full PPE and priority to receive a Covid-19 vaccine, if they choose. 

When vaccinations are available, the sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents can make appointments at www.EssexCOVID.org or by calling 973-877-8456. Appointments only can be made after the County receives the vaccines. Vaccinations will be given in two doses. Residents making reservations to receive the vaccination will receive two appointments. It is critical that residents attend both appointments. 

Residents will be asked to provide their medical insurance information and their insurance provider will be billed $16.94 for the first dose and $28.39 for the second dose. If a resident does not have insurance, the cost of the vaccine will be covered by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Provide Relief Fund. There will be no out-of-pocket expenses charged to residents.

  • The Millburn Recreation Department has scheduled activities for an outdoor winter program, due to the current prohibition of indoor activities.  Please register at https://www.twp.millburn.nj.us./404/Program-Registration-Forms 
  • The Millburn Pantry is looking for additional food and monetary donations.  Donations can be made at Millburn Town Hall in the designated bin or by writing a check to the “Township of Millburn” with “Food Pantry” in the memo.  Your monetary donation will go toward purchasing gift cards at local grocery stores for those members of the community that are food insecure. 
  • Next Wednesday, December 23 at 4:00pm will be my last message as your Mayor and will be a voice call to all residents.  If there is any additional information pertinent to our residents it will be shared on our various media channels.

Good afternoon Millburn Township Residents, this is your Mayor - Jackie Benjamin Lieberberg and today is Wednesday, December 23 2020. 

Since March 12, this is how I have addressed numerous voice mails and emails to all of our residents, merchants, property owners and professional staff.  We all have experienced firsthand a tumultuous year when our world has been turned upside down by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Today is my last message of 2020:

Essex County is reporting 44,632 residents having tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently 395 residents of Millburn Township who have tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmed cases in Millburn are cumulative and residents are not removed from this count once they recover.  This number represents an increase of 10 cases since December 18th.

The following important updates for our residents:

  • Essex County is offering free Covid testing at a variety of locations throughout the County.  Please visit www.essexcovid.org for additional information and to register. You must register to get tested.
     
  • Additionally, Essex County will be receiving both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine. We anticipate the distribution program to begin on or about Dec 26, 2020.   • Governor Murphy has extended the public health emergency for the State of New Jersey.  Also, Executive Order 196 lowered the indoor gathering limit to 10 people.  Please view the Executive Order details here.

Please note that Friday, December 25th and Friday, January 1st there will be NO Garbage or Recycling pick-ups.  Recycling for Zone 5 will be completed on December 26.  Trash collections will be the next scheduled collection day. 

Residents--- We all have endured a year like no other. I am grateful to our Professional Staff, Police, Fire, our First Aid Squad and DPW that keep us safe. Kudos to our incredible Township Staff under the leadership of Alex McDonald who continued to work both on premises and worked remotely throughout the pandemic to ensure that all Township functionality continued successfully. 

We have shown our fortitude as a community through the generosity of time and energy by our volunteers who gave so, so very much unselfishly to keep our businesses open and our residents engaged and protected. Thank you all for your commitment to our community.

I want to wish you all a SAFE, HAPPY and HEALTHY HOLIDAY SEASON and a JOYOUS NEW YEAR--- WE ARE A WONDERFUL COMMUNITY  AND I know WE are ALL  grateful to call Millburn/Short Hills OUR  home.  THANK YOU ----
