Essex County has officially been added to the FEMA disaster declaration list!
Residents and business owners who were impacted by Tropical Storm Ida may now apply for disaster assistance at disasterassistance.gov.
Please be advised that FEMA will be visiting Millburn Township on Wednesday, September 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Town Hall to assist residents with applications for disaster assistance.
FEMA will ask for personal information such as your social security number, insurance information, address and phone number to begin the application process. If you are uncomfortable relaying this information to a FEMA agent or would prefer to conduct this process at home, the FEMA application for disaster assistance is found at www.disasterassistance.gov.
After submitting a FEMA application, you will receive notification letters from FEMA either by mail or electronic correspondence explaining your next steps. If you reported during the application process that you received damage and are not able to live in your primary residence, an inspector will contact you by phone to schedule an inspection. All inspections will be conducted without entering your residence. When inspectors arrive at your home they will maintain social distance, visually assess the exterior of the residence, and verbally confirm the interior damage over the phone.
For residents who are handicapped or home-bound, FEMA agents are accepting calls at 800-621-3362. For those who are hearing impaired, call 800-462-7585 for TTY.
The Township strongly encourages any residents impacted by Tropical Storm Ida to visit disasterassistance.gov to apply for disaster assistance.
