The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 . Rain, sleet and snow is expected, along with re-freezing of wet surfaces. Total snow accumulations are expected of 2 to 4 in. Wind gusts as high as 45mph are a possibility. Accumulation is expected to build up quickly.
Please keep your vehicles off the roads so that plowing may be completed quickly and efficiently.
Residents are reminded that snow must be cleared from sidewalks within eight (8) hours of daylight after the storm ends. It is a violation of the municipal code to shovel or plow snow into the roadway. Please keep shoveled snow confined to your property behind the curbline!
Service Outages
As a reminder, residents should report any storm-related outages directly to their utility providers at the numbers listed below.
Downed trees and wires may be reported via the non-emergency PD line at 973-564-7001. We remind residents to NOT call 9-1-1 for power outages and/or to inquire about service restoration. Reserve 9-1-1 calls for true emergencies only.
JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris. Treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.
