[ARCHIVED] Summer 2016 Construction

With the summer months approaching, various construction projects will be occurring throughout the Township. The areas stated below are a preliminary list as start dates are still being determined and are subject to change.

In efforts to notify residents and commuters of the possibility of road closures, detours and increased traffic the Township will be updating its website and Twitter as construction progresses. Please keep these projects in mind while driving through town:

July
•Complete Streets- Check the Township website for updates.

•Great Hills Road – Projected construction on Great Hills Road will be postponed due to the Governor’s order to stop all projects being funded by the Transportation Trust Fund. The Township will be monitoring the status of the stop work order so that work can begin as soon as possible.

•Short Hills Train Station Lot 3 (Chatham Road) – Milling, paving, resurfacing and installation of perimeter curbing. Project will result in three (3) days of complete lot closure. Commuters will have to park in Lots 7 and 8 and the Parking Deck during this time. The construction job was awarded to Stanziale Construction.

•Papermill Playhouse – Parking lot improvements and resurfacing.
Brookside Drive will be closed daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM from August 3rd to August 19th. The road closure will be between Old Short Hills Road and Glen Avenue. There will be a soft closure at Old Short Hills Road and Glen Avenue, with a hard closure past the rear parking lot of the Paper Mill Play House and Parking Lot C on Brookside Drive.

Access will still be available to the Paper Mill Playhouse and vehicles can park in adjacent lots on Brookside Drive. Emergency Vehicles cannot pass through the road closure.


August
•Whittingham Terrace – Road Improvements including milling and paving, curb replacement, barrier free ramps, drainage and resurfacing. Bids are being received July 6th with the possibility of awarding the bid on July 19th. The project area is from Millburn Avenue to Ridgewood Road. Residents affected by construction will be notified by the contractor. Construction should conclude in September.
