With winter on its way, the Township of Millburn would like to take a moment to remind residents to have a plan in case of inclement weather over the coming months! In the case of a snow or severe weather event, Millburn DPW will activate and mobilize in advance of the storm. A few key things to know:
- Our DPW operates two emergency shifts, each responsible for twelve hours.
- Millburn is divided into 16 plow routes. Trucks must clear the road from center to curb.
- Plowing cannot occur until more than 2 inches of snow accumulates.
- Main roadways, public facilities and parking lots are prioritized. County roads are maintained by Essex County.
If a storm is in the forecast, please note that residents cannot shovel or plow snow into the roadway; it should instead be confined to the property behind your curbline. Residents should aim to clear snow from sidewalks within 8 hours of daylight after a storm ends. Those who live near schools should try to create safe passage as soon as possible.
Please remember to stay off the roads during a winter storm unless absolutely essential. Do not park cars on the street during snow events, and consider offering help to neighbors who are unable to shovel their driveways and sidewalks!
