Tomorrow, February 5th, the intersection of Hobart Avenue and Highland Avenue will be upgraded to an All-Way Stop. Originally anticipated for February 6th, the installation is being moved up one day due to favorable weather considerations.
On February 6th, weather dependent, the intersection of Hobart Avenue and Highland Avenue will be upgraded to an All-Way Stop. An All-Way Stop was warranted by an analysis conducted by the Township’s traffic consultant. At its December 18th, 2018 meeting the Millburn Township Committee passed an ordinance codifying this change.
This new traffic pattern is intended to reduce the number of accidents at the intersection. Advance warning signs and pavement markings will be installed on Highland Avenue to alert motorists of the new pattern. A variable message board will be in place informing drivers of the upcoming changes.
The striping of the roadway and installation of advance warning signs will all occur on February 6th. Drivers should be prepared to stop on Highland Avenue at its intersection with Hobart Avenue. The Township will continue to monitor accident and traffic data at this intersection following the installation.
