[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Hermine

We remain hopeful that the impact from Tropical Storm Hermine will be minimal for our area, but also understand that forecasts can change quickly. At this point in time forecasts for Millburn Township predict the possibility of wind gusts up to 40MPH and approximately an inch of rain. It is important for residents to stay tuned to their preferred weather source for updates regarding the storm.

Although the impact may be minimal from Hermine, this is a good opportunity for residents to refresh on their storm plans and other important information. We encourage residents to visit the Township's Office of Emergency Management page to find helpful links for storm preparation and safety.

JCP&L has initiated their storm response. With the possibility of strong winds there is also a likelihood of power outages associated with tree damage to power lines. Remember:

* Always assume a downed wire is "live" and has electricity still flowing through it
* Do not approach downed lines or downed trees that may have power lines entangled in it
* Call JCP&L at 888-LIGHTSS to report a downed wire or power outage.
* If are in your vehicle and downed wires fall on your vehicle, stay in your car and call 911 for help
