[ARCHIVED] Short Hills Park Historic District Architectural Survey

Township of Millburn sign outside of Town Hall building

The Township of Millburn is completing an intensive-level architectural survey on about 269 historic properties in the Short Hills Park Historic District on Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5.

A contractor will be on-site photographing properties for the survey. Photographs will be taken from the public right-of-way and not from private property. Attention will be made to ensure that personalized property and identification are obscured from view (i.e. cars, persons, trailers, etc.).

A historic properties survey is a study designed to locate, identify and evaluate properties in an area to determine whether they may be of historic, architectural, archaeological, engineering, or cultural significance.

The survey will enable Millburn Township’s Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservation Commission to better plan for the preservation of historic resources by placing each structure in its historic and architectural context, resulting in greater understanding and appreciation. It will allow the boards to make informed land use decisions in accordance with the Master plan, local ordinances and municipal land use law.

The survey has a rain dates set for Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8.
